About this Research Topic

Manuscript Submission Deadline 11 October 2023
Manuscript Extension Submission Deadline 10 November 2023

Vibration and Energy Harvesting are important topics in engineering and physics, and their relevance has increased significantly in recent years. For example, vibration energy harvested can be used to power the sensors used in digital manufacturing. Energy harvesting is the process of capturing and converting energy from the environment into useful electrical power. Vibration, on the other hand, is an important physical phenomenon that occurs in many systems and structures, and can be a valuable source of energy for harvesting. In order to bring together research in these two areas to showcase the latest developments and advancements in the field, we are pleased to invite submissions for this special collection of papers focused on Vibration and Energy Harvesting.

Vibrational energy is one of the most widely distributed forms of energy, and it can be harvested using a variety of methods. Therefore, it has become one of the important means to break through the bottleneck issues in energy storage and wired power supply in many industries. For this reason, vibration energy harvesting technology has received extensive attention and developed rapidly in recent years. However, despite the great progress, we still face great challenges in multiple aspects during the research and development vibration energy harvesting technology, such as the vibration energy harvesting efficiency, device development, the application of new materials, and so on. To accelerate the advance of the relevant technology and also help achieve reliable and efficient vibration energy harvesting devices in early days, the goal of this paper collection is to bring together the latest research in both fields of vibration and energy harvesting, showing the latest developments and advancements in the relevant areas, sharing the knowledge, identifying the new trends of research in the subject area, and exploring potential collaboration and interdisciplinary research opportunity.

We are looking for high-quality research papers that address the following topics (but not limited to):

1. Vibration energy harvesting techniques and mechanisms

2. Modeling and analysis of vibration-based energy harvesting systems

3. Design and optimization of energy harvesting devices

4. Novel materials and technologies for energy harvesting

5. Integration of energy harvesting devices with sensors and wireless communication systems

6. Applications of energy harvesting in various fields such as transportation, healthcare, and environmental monitoring

7. Vibration analysis

8. Condition monitoring and fault diagnosis

We welcome submissions from researchers working in academia, industry, and government institutions. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality and originality of the research presented.

Keywords: Vibration analysis, Signal processing, Energy harvesting, Energy design, Energy optimisation, Condition monitoring, Fault diagnosis, Artificial intelligence, Renewable energy

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
