*Please note: the requirement for submission into this Research Topic is that the theme of your manuscript must focus on education within orthopedic surgery.*

We aim to address contemporary challenges faced by educators in the field of Orthopedic Surgery in 2023 and into the future.

With an aging population, there is an increasing prevalence of orthopedic procedures performed to alleviate symptoms of age related conditions such as arthritis or osteoporotic fractures, which requires an increasing contingent of orthopedic surgeons and trainees to address the anticipated needs of patients. In the context of an ever-evolving educational landscape, we aspire to provide a framework for educators to optimize surgical training.

This Research Topic welcomes manuscripts addressing the following topics:

1. Mentorship and sponsorship of medical students, residents and fellows
2. The residency and fellowship interview process
3. The residency and fellowship match process
4. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in orthopedic training
5. Visiting externships/acting internship selection
6. Core competencies in training

Keywords: Orthopedic Surgery, Training, Mentorship, DEI, Residency, Fellowship, Education

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
