It has been three years since many countries around the world were sent into a nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. As the disease infected the lungs of many people across the world, other adverse effects were seen, arising not only from the virus itself but also due to the lockdowns and social distancing measures that were introduced.

This Research Topic will provide a platform for the latest advances in research exploring neuropsychiatric manifestations (anxiety, depression, psychosis, brain fog) and related fatigue in COVID-19, with a focus on the underlying neural circuitry.

We welcome original research articles, reviews, and brief reports focusing on the following areas:
• neuroanatomy and the impact of COVID-19 on the brain, including both the short- and longer-term effects following infection (Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-Cov-2 infection)
• neuropathology of psychiatric symptoms (anxiety, depression, psychosis) manifesting in patients infected with COVID-19
• investigation of the neural circuits involved in the presentation of COVID-19-related neuropsychiatric symptoms of anxiety, depression, psychosis, brain fog, and associated fatigue (e.g. via imaging and electrophysiological studies).

Keywords: COVID-19, neuropsychiatric disorders, neural circuitry, brain fog, neuroimaging, anxiety, depression, psychosis

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
