Electrochemical reactions are chemical reactions that belong to the category of electrochemistry. Electrochemistry is a branch of chemistry concerned with the relationship between electricity and chemical change. Electrochemistry is a marginal subject and an interdisciplinary subject in many fields. Bockris, a famous electrochemist, defined it as "the science of studying phenomena occurring on charged interfaces.” Electrochemical reactions generally include electrochemical oxidation reactions and electrochemical reduction reactions. Electrochemical oxidation is a significant focus method of energy and chemical conversion efforts, with potential applications ranging among fuel cells, environment, sensor, food chemistry detection, bioelectronics, biomass utilization, and fine-chemical synthesis. Electrochemical reactions primarily constrain the performance of electrochemical oxidation, so it is necessary to design efficient electrocatalysts and upgrade electrolytic cells to promote these reactions.

This research topic aims to emphasize the impact of electrochemical oxidation reactions on energy storage and conversion, electrochemical sensors, electrochemical oxidation of small organic molecules, and electrochemical water oxidation, etc. It is necessary to summarize the latest progress of related research and draw people's attention to this new topic. The improvement of electrochemical oxidation in electrochemical water oxidation, small organic molecule oxidation, biochemical medical sensors relying on electrochemical oxidation reactions, advanced electrode material synthesis methods, and characterization techniques will be explored. Through exploring critical scientific issues and technical bottlenecks in electrochemical oxidation, some conclusions are drawn, and some viewpoints are put forward to promote the development of this field and expand the application range of electrochemical oxidation reactions.

The scope of the proposed topic is the intensive integration of theoretical and experimental studies that demonstrate progress in developing high-performance electrocatalytic materials and electrochemical devices for electrochemical oxidation reactions. Further concentrate and organize the application research and theoretical simulation calculation research in energy, environment, health, detection, etc., which are expanded by using the background of the electrochemical oxidation reaction. These include but are not limited to the following:
• Basic research on model electrocatalysts
• Synthesis and characterization of micro-nanoparticle and single-atom catalysts
• Improved preparation of support electrodes
• Application research of electrochemical oxidation reaction in biochemical sensors
• Application research of electrochemical oxidation reaction in medical sensors
• •Application research of electrochemical oxidation reaction in electrocatalytic water oxidation
• Application research of electrochemical oxidation reaction in the oxidation of small organic molecules
• Theoretical calculation simulation research on electrochemical oxidation reaction and related catalysts and electrodes

We welcome manuscripts from original research to reviews, mini-reviews, and perspectives.
