Oral health is the most overlooked and neglected aspect in healthcare. This issue presents an astonishing gap in oral health and overall health, particularly as individuals live longer as older adults. The gap in the oral health workforce to care for aging populations needs immediate attention starting with education and collaboration of health providers across the healthcare, including oral health.
This Research Topic seeks articles on themes surrounding the oral health workforce to care for the aging population, including but not limited to:
1) Oral health within overall health
2) Impact of interprofessional education on the future interprofessional collaboration of healthcare teams
3) The integration of cultural background and health believes to impact treatment outcomes
4)The importance of person-focused verses patient-focused treatments
