The promise of a "Blue Economy" includes interests in delivering large-scale environmental protection alongside economic growth, revitalizing coastal communities, and development planning with coastal communities. Any national Blue Economy plan will need to occur alongside other national priorities and through national institutions and capacities. Learning from national cases can help inform the development of Blue Economy strategies and ocean-related sustainable development policies around the world.
