About this Research Topic

Manuscript Submission Deadline 01 May 2024

Intestinal motility disorder is a wide-ranging syndrome that includes slow transit constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and dynamic intestinal obstruction, which can affect patients’ nutritional status. When the peristaltic movement of the intestines is weakened or obstructed, the movement and elimination of food and waste in the digestive tract are affected. This can lead to prolonged food transit time in the intestines, resulting in patients experiencing symptoms such as indigestion, malnutrition, and weight loss. Indeed, the nutritional status of patients can also influence intestinal motility. Adequate nutritional status helps maintain normal intestinal peristalsis and function. Malnutrition or deficiencies in certain nutrients can lead to intestinal spasms or weakened peristalsis, affecting the digestion and elimination of food.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of nutritional support and patients' nutritional status on the recovery of gastrointestinal motility disorders. We aim to identify the nutritional factors that have the greatest influence on the recovery of gastrointestinal motility disorders and determine the effects on patient nutritional status after relieving gastrointestinal motility disorders. The ultimate goal is to provide scientific nutritional solutions for clinical patients with gastrointestinal motility disorders and develop rational treatment plans for restoring intestinal function.

We welcome, but are not limited to, submissions on the following related topics:

· Nutritional status of patients with gastrointestinal motility disorders;

· Impact of the patient's own nutritional status on the recovery of gastrointestinal motility disorders;

· Role of nutrition in the occurrence and development of diseases associated with gastrointestinal motility disorders;

· Mechanism of nutrition affects gastrointestinal motility;

· Measures to correct patients' malnutrition and their gastrointestinal motility significance;

· Impact of different nutritional support methods on the recovery of gastrointestinal motility. Nutritional support includes enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, oral nutritional supplementation, and oral nutritional powder, etc.

Keywords: nutritional support, intestinal, dysmotility

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
