Alzheimer's disease (AD) poses significant challenges in terms of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. To gain valuable insights into the complex mechanisms underlying this neurodegenerative disorder, researchers have turned to proteomic approaches, leveraging advanced protein analysis techniques. This topic explores the scientific realm of proteomics and its application in unraveling the intricate molecular mechanisms involved in AD.

Proteomics, the comprehensive study of the proteome within a biological system, enables researchers to explore alterations in protein expression, post-translational modifications, and protein-protein interactions associated with AD. Utilizing cutting-edge mass spectrometry and other advanced analytical methods, scientists can identify and quantify changes in protein profiles linked to disease progression, protein misfolding, aggregation, and neuroinflammation.

The goal of this topic is to utilise proteomic approaches to provide a systems-level understanding of Alzheimer's disease. By unraveling the complex interplay of proteins and their modifications, researchers strive to identify therapeutic targets, develop diagnostic tools, and contribute to the pursuit of effective treatments and preventative strategies for AD. We welcome manuscripts that help to address some of the following important themes:

- All models used for studying AD, including non-traditional models such as drosophila
- Reviews of current models and methods for proteomic analysis of AD
- Methods and algorithms for the proteomic analysis, such as data mining and use of artificial intelligence
- Application of clinical proteomic technologies to understand AD
- Interactome of AD disease proteins

We welcome contributions in the form of original research, review, mini review, case reports, hypothesis and theory, perspective, and experimental pre-/clinical studies.

Keywords: Alzheimers, Systems Neuroscience, Proteomics, Translational

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
