Neuropsychology is a dynamically developing field of science, gathering researchers and clinicians interested in the neuronal background of behavioral, cognitive and emotional functioning of a human in norm and pathology. Research in this field makes it possible to learn about the brain mechanisms of individual mental processes, but also - and perhaps above all - to create a profile of functioning of people affected by various diseases. Diseases not only obviously related to brain functions, such as brain tumors or strokes, but also those that have an indirect impact, such as endocrine, metabolic or infectious diseases. Recognizing the specific difficulties and needs of patients from various clinical groups is extremely important, especially for specialists working in health care. This is why it is so essential to conduct and publish a reliable research that thoroughly discuss these issues. In neuropsychological diagnosis and therapy, standard paper-and-pencil methods are still performed, but new technologies (computer methods, virtual reality/augmented reality) are increasingly being used to get closer to the natural challenges faced by people. Due to various factors (distance, pandemic, etc.), diagnosis and therapy are more and more often carried out remotely, without direct contact between the patient and the therapist. The effectiveness of various methods of diagnosis and therapy is also the subject of scientific research.
The goal of this Research Topic is to present a collection of studies focusing on various aspects of clinical neuropsychology – current research as well as future development of this field.
