This Research Topic is aimed to highlight the latest and up-to date experimental methods and techniques employed to answer questions related to all aspects of avian physiology, from molecular and cell physiology to organ function in wild and domestic birds. Contributions can be related, but not limited to: avian genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome, physiology of avian cells and organ systems, metabolism, endocrinology, reproduction, nutrition, growth, and birds migration.
The goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current methods used to study avian physiology, and their progress, and limitations.
The research Topic will focus on:
1) existing methods that are significantly improved or updated to specific research aim
2) new methods
3) protocols that provide a detailed description, including pitfalls and troubleshooting, and are “ready-to-use”
4) reviews and mini-reviews of current methods and protocols
5) general commentaries on methods and protocols. The methods and protocols can cover any aspect of avian physiology and be related to any wild or domestic bird research
