Frontiers in Coatings, Dyes and Interface Engineering: Inaugural Collection

It is with great excitement that we launch this collection of papers in Frontiers in Coatings, Dyes and Interface Engineering.

This Research Topic features the journal’s inaugural articles and showcases the most topical research in the field, outlining the current trends and challenges. We seek papers that are seminal contributions to the areas of engineered coatings, surfaces and interfaces, and functional dyes. The journal is also seeking research at the intersections between these domains, further exploring their mutual influences.

A review of the present challenges and potential solutions can be seen in the Field Grand Challenge article “Grand challenges in coatings, dyes and interface engineering” (Wood, 2023), that explains the scope of this journal further. We expect state of the art papers to be published exploring modelling, deposition, characterisation, in-situ health monitoring, experimental techniques and research to real world, relating to diverse application domains and emerging areas at all scale lengths.

The content will be edited by the journal Chief Editors to both shape and reflect the community we hope to connect up, and thus provide readers with valuable resources. All contributing authors were individually nominated by the Chief Editors and Editorial Board of the journal in recognition of their contribution to the field. Submissions are welcome across the full journal scope via all of our specialty sections (Dyes and Pigments, Engineered Surfaces and Interfaces, Hard Films and Coatings, Soft Coatings).

Spontaneous submissions may also be considered only with a preliminary submission of an abstract.
