Climate Change and Human Health: Transdisciplinary Perspectives

The intersection of climate change and human health is an evolving field that has garnered significant attention across various academic disciplines, including public health, environmental science, and development studies. The manifestations of climate change, such as tropical cyclones, floods, heatwaves, and air quality deterioration, pose severe health burdens on humanity. These environmental changes are linked to shifts in disease incidences, including communicable diseases, respiratory infections, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health conditions. Despite the growing body of evidence highlighting these impacts, there remains a critical need for a comprehensive understanding of how climate change exacerbates health risks and the mechanisms through which adaptation and mitigation can alleviate these effects. Current research underscores the importance of a transdisciplinary approach to address these complex challenges, yet gaps persist in integrating diverse sectors and systems in the governance of health and climate.

This research topic aims to explore the transdisciplinary perspectives on climate change and human health, focusing on understanding and mitigating the adverse health impacts of climate change. The primary objectives include examining the reasons behind climate change, its effects on human health, and the role of adaptation and mitigation strategies. By addressing these questions, the research seeks to contribute to the development of climate-resilient health systems and communities, with a particular emphasis on protecting disadvantaged groups who are disproportionately affected by climate change.
