Since its inaugural event in 2014 in Lima, Peru, the Latin American Metabolic Profiling Society (LAMPS) has periodically brought together researchers from the region to share their work. Although metabolomics is still evolving in Latin America, previous meetings in Rosario, Argentina, in 2016, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2018, have showcased the wide-ranging and groundbreaking research in this field. The proceedings from the fourth edition of the LAMPS Symposium, held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, in November 2022, can be accessed here.
Continuing the tradition, the 2024 symposium in Montevideo, Uruguay, will feature a high-profile program where NMR spectroscopists and mass spectrometrists will present their latest findings. This event will also provide a valuable opportunity for younger researchers to connect with their peers and gain insights from leading experts. Through the sharing of innovative discoveries and in-depth discussions on advancements in metabolic profiling, this symposium aims to deepen our understanding of metabolomics research.
Complementing the V LAMPS Symposium, this Research Topic invites those presenting their research at the event to publish full versions of their work. Additionally, we welcome contributions from other researchers in the field. While the primary focus remains on research in Latin America, we also encourage submissions that demonstrate the impact of metabolomics in all areas of health, nutrition, and agriculture from Latin American researchers around the globe.
