Clinical neuropsychology is a scientifically based applied discipline that comprehensively addresses the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning of individuals across their lifespan, encompassing both pediatric and adult populations. Clinical neuropsychology is very relevant and helpful in the processes of diagnosis, treatment planning, and rehabilitation of several health conditions, both mental disorders and medical illnesses (cancer, neurological diseases, etc.). Also, research has found links and interplay between neuropsychological and mental health outcomes in various health conditions.
This Research Topic aims to gather all recent advances in clinical neuropsychology relating to health conditions in both the pediatric and adult populations. The editors are particularly interested in recent evidence on the neuropsychological endophenotypes or profiles underlying various psychological disorders, especially severe mental disorders, in different health conditions. Neuropsychology-based treatments for pediatric and adult populations living with various health conditions should also be addressed.
The editors welcome submissions focusing on the following areas:
• advances in neuropsychological profiles underlying psychological disorders and other health conditions;
• advances in neuropsychological interventions for psychological disorders and other health conditions;
• advances in the interplay between neuropsychological and mental health outcomes in several medical conditions;
• innovative randomized controlled trials or observational designs in clinical neuropsychology;
• innovative qualitative studies in clinical neuropsychology;
• innovative mixed methods study designs (qualitative and quantitative methodology) in clinical neuropsychology.
Various article types may be submitted to this Research Topic, including Original Research, Reviews, Mini-Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Brief Research Reports, Clinical Trials, Case Reports, Perspectives, and Methods.
Topic editor, Stephen Aita, is a consultant with Cogstate as well as the Evanthea Dementia Reversal Trial. He is also employed by the U.S. government.
