Acquisition and Application of Multimodal Sensing Information Acquisition and Application of Multimodal Sensing Information - Volume IIWith the development of advanced sensors in modern science and technology, sensors have already penetrated fields such as industrial production, space development, ocean exploration, environmental protection, medical diagnosis, biological engineering, and even cultural relic protection. Sensors are the basis of all data acquisition. Almost every modern project, from the exploration of the vast universe and ocean to the complex engineering systems, is inseparable from a variety of sensors. Sensors convert physical parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, humidity, speed, etc.) into signals that can be measured electrically. A high-performance sensor with the advantages of high sensitivity, high resolutions, and real-time observation is desirable. In addition, the application of computers and advanced signal processing methods make sensor management possible. The use of sensing data from multiple sensors has been proven to be an efficient way to improve service experiences in different IoT fields, e.g., intelligent transportation, remote sensing, smart city, and UAVs.
Recently, various optical sensors develop rapidly with the help of advanced light sources. For example, laser spectroscopy-based trace gas sensors exhibit excellent sensitivity and a selectivity comparable to that of electrochemistry gas sensors. Laser radar or scanner are widely used in target detection, tracking, and imaging recognition since the extremely high resolution in frequency domain, space domain and time domain. Therefore, it is meaningful to set up a Research Topic for the acquisition and application of multimodal sensing information.
In this Research Topic, papers about the novel research, technology, and in particular the advanced methods and novel applications of various sensors (particularly, the optical gas sensor, laser and radio/radar) are welcomed. Also, research works on advanced sensor algorithms are also welcomed. Research and review articles describing the current state-of-the-art are welcomed. Potential topics include, but are not limited to the following:
• Laser spectroscopy-based gas sensors
• Photoacoustic or photothermal spectroscopy gas sensor
• LiDAR and radio/radar remote sensing
• Radar signal and data processing
• Cavity-enhanced or cavity ring-down spectroscopy
