Background

Logo Frontiers for Young Minds

This collection is a collaboration between Frontiers in Drug Delivery and Frontiers’ flagship journal, Frontiers for Young Minds, an award‑winning, non‑profit, open-access scientific journal for kids.

Drug delivery and formulation science is undergoing a rapid transformation, propelled by breakthroughs in materials, manufacturing, computational modelling, and translational pharmacology. From targeted nanocarriers and long-acting injectables to smart biomaterials and patient-centric dosage forms, the field is expanding the therapeutic window, improving adherence, and enabling modalities once considered undeliverable. This Research Topic welcomes contributions that showcase cutting-edge innovation across the full spectrum of delivery routes, formulations, and enabling technologies. We invite all accepted article types to this Research Topic.

The scope of this Research Topic is broadly defined to encompass the full breadth of drug delivery research, covering all our specialty sections:
• CNS drug delivery
• Cardiovascular drug delivery
• Dermatological drug delivery
• Drug delivery for special patient populations
• Hepatic drug delivery
• Ophthalmic drug delivery
• Oral drug delivery
• Respiratory drug delivery
• Technological and methodological advances in drug delivery
• Vaccine delivery

Authors participating in this Research Topic also have the opportunity to take their research and drug delivery concepts to the Young Minds audience. Papers prepared for the flagship journal should be tailored to the audience of 8- to 15-year-olds, using accessible language, images, and diagrams. Papers will be featured in the sister Research Topic. For Young Minds, authors can prepare one of two article types:
Core Concept: mini-review style article, can be original and not linked to a previously published paper.
New Discovery: a rewritten paper that is linked back to the source article. This article type must feature at least one co-author from the original paper.

If you would like to take advantage of this unique publishing opportunity, please contact to discuss.
