Background

Inflammation plays a critical role in the development and progression of neurovascular disorders and stroke, impacting both acute and chronic phases of these conditions. Understanding the complex interplay between inflammation and these disorders is essential for guiding effective treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes. This Research Topic aims to explore the role of inflammation in neurovascular disorders and stroke, focusing on mechanisms, biomarkers, and innovative treatment approaches.



The goal of this Research Topic is to deepen our understanding of how inflammation contributes to neurovascular disorders and stroke, with a focus on identifying inflammatory biomarkers, elucidating molecular mechanisms of cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury, and exploring novel treatment strategies. By bridging bench research with clinical applications and leveraging advanced neuroimaging techniques, we seek to pave the way for targeted therapies that could significantly alleviate the burden of these debilitating conditions and enhance patient outcomes.



We welcome diverse contributions that advance our knowledge of inflammation in neurovascular disorders and stroke, offering insights into diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic strategies. We encouraged all original articles, including those presenting clinical data, in vitro, in vitro, or in silico research. Authors also invited to contribute reviews and perspectives that address the following key themes:



• Biomarkers: Identification and validation of specific inflammatory biomarkers, their roles in early diagnosis and prognosis, the mechanisms by which these markers contribute to the disorder pathology, and their potential as targets for therapeutic interventions.



• Cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury: Advanced research on molecular and cellular mechanisms of cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury. This includes but not limited to the role of inflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial and endothelial dysfunction, and calcium overload.



• Novel treatment strategies: Highlighting innovative pharmacological, interventional, and surgical approaches in targeting inflammation in acute and post-acute phases of neurovascular and stroke disorders.



• Neuroimaging and inflammation: Discussing state-of-the-art imaging modalities, including advanced neuroimaging techniques and artificial intelligence applications, for early detection, accurate diagnosis, and treatment guidance in neurovascular and stroke patients.



• Natural products: Investigation of natural agents with anti-inflammatory properties that may provide a promising avenue for therapeutic intervention in neurovascular disorders and stroke.
