Current Debates in Neuro-Ophthalmology Disorders

In conjunction with the 17th Annual Congress on Controversies in Ophthalmology (COPHY), Frontiers in Ophthalmology presents this Research Topic focused on current debates shaping the field of neuro-ophthalmology. This research topic welcomes all article types accepted by the journal exploring the following questions:

1. Should we worry about "sulfa allergy" in IIH treatmeant with acetazolamide (Diamox)

2. Do GLP-1 agonists cause NAION?

3. Should we scan all third nerve palsies regardless of the pupil?

4. Should we test for Lamber Eaton Myasthenia Syndrome (LEMS) in suspected myasthenia gravis (MG)?

5. Should all patients with LHON be started on idebenone?

6. What should be the first line diagnostic test for confirming the clinical suspicion of GCA?: temporal artery biopsy or temporal artery ultrasound.

7. Can a lumbar puncture be deferred in patients with suspected IIH?

This Research Topic aims to capture diverse perspectives, highlight areas of uncertainty, and stimulate discussion that may inform future research directions and clinical practice in neuro-ophthalmology.
