Translational immunology has entered a new era in which high-dimensional immune profiling, advanced in vitro modeling systems, and artificial intelligence-driven analytics converge to bridge the gap between mechanistic insights and clinical application. Despite major advances, a key challenge remains: transforming complex immune signatures into clinically actionable biomarkers.
This Research Topic aims to bring together multidisciplinary approaches that enable the transition from immune monitoring to precision medicine. We particularly welcome studies integrating flow cytometry–based immunophenotyping, cytokine profiling, exosome-mediated immune communication, and single-cell technologies with computational modeling and machine learning.
A special focus will be placed on emerging model systems such as iPSC-derived organoids and microglia organoid co-culture platforms, which provide new opportunities to study immune–tissue interactions in neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases. In addition, studies addressing immunosenescence, chronic inflammation, and immune exhaustion, particularly in relation to clinical outcomes, are highly encouraged.
We also invite contributions in cancer immunology, autoimmunity, transplantation, and infectious diseases, especially those identifying novel immune signatures, biomarkers, or therapeutic targets. The integration of multi-omics data with explainable AI approaches represents a key priority for developing interpretable and clinically applicable decision-support systems.
Overall, this Research Topic aims to establish a framework in which immune profiling becomes predictive, integrative, and clinically actionable.
Experts in neuroimmunology, immunosenescence, systems immunology, cancer immunology, and AI-driven immune profiling have been identified, and the list will be further expanded during the invitation phase.
