Bladder cancer (BC) and prostate cancer (PCa) are two of the most prevalent urological malignancies worldwide, imposing substantial global health and economic burdens. PCa is the second most common cancer among men globally, while BC ranks among the top ten cancers in both sexes, with high recurrence rates and variable clinical outcomes. Despite advances in early detection and treatment, several challenges remain, including the delayed diagnosis of aggressive subtypes, drug resistance in advanced disease, and the lack of accurate prognostic tools to guide personalized therapy. Population aging and changing lifestyle factors further contribute to the increasing incidence of these cancers, highlighting the urgent need for innovative research to address unmet clinical needs and improve patient survival and quality of life.
The primary goal of this Research Topic is to gather cutting-edge research on BC and PCa, with a focus on advancing diagnostic accuracy, developing novel therapeutic approaches, and identifying reliable prognostic markers. We aim to provide a comprehensive platform for researchers to share findings that bridge basic science and clinical practice, thereby facilitating the translation of research into improved patient care. This collection will synthesize current knowledge, highlight emerging trends, and identify key gaps in the field, ultimately contributing to the development of personalized strategies for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of BC and PCa.
This Research Topic welcomes original research articles, reviews, and perspectives focusing on, but not limited to: • Novel diagnostic biomarkers, including liquid biopsies and advanced imaging technologies • Therapeutic strategies for BC and PCa, including targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy • Contributions focusing on precision medicine approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of BC and PCa • Studies investigating mechanisms of treatment resistance are also within the scope of this Research Topic • Research on prognostic factors that may improve risk stratification and support personalized clinical decision-making • Population-based studies on BC and PCa are also encouraged, particularly those that provide insights into disease burden, epidemiology, and clinical outcomes
