Background

Complex nonlinear phenomena govern the behavior of physical systems across a remarkable range of scales and disciplines - from wave propagation, fluid dynamics, and plasma physics, to quantum mechanics, biological systems, and chaotic dynamics. In recent years, He’s semi-analytical methods have emerged as powerful tools for probing this nonlinear behaviour, offering accurate approximate solutions in regimes where exact analytical results are difficult to obtain. These approaches are valued for their computational efficiency and physical interpretability, making them well-suited to the study of complex, nonlinear physical systems.

The purpose of this Research Topic is to showcase recent developments and innovative applications of He’s semi-analytical methods in modern physics, with a focus on advancing the physical understanding of nonlinear and complex systems. Contributions are welcomed from across the physical sciences, including fluid dynamics, plasma physics, wave propagation, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, and biological physics. Both theoretical and computational studies are encouraged, with an emphasis on uncovering the physical mechanisms at play and identifying emerging challenges and future directions in nonlinear science.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

-Novel developments and extensions of He’s semi-analytical methods
-He’s frequency-amplitude formulation applied to nonlinear oscillatory physical systems
-Exp-function approaches to wave propagation and soliton dynamics
-Semi-analytical investigation of fluid dynamics and complex flow behaviour
-He’s methods applied to plasma physics and nonlinear oscillations
-Semi-analytical analysis of chaos, bifurcation, and dynamical systems
-Applications of He’s methods to quantum mechanical nonlinear systems
-He’s semi-analytical framework applied to statistical physics
Semi-analytical modelling of biological and ecological nonlinear dynamics

This Research Topic welcomes original research articles, review papers, short communications, and perspective pieces that advance the understanding and application of He’s semi-analytical methods across physics and related scientific fields.
