Case Reports in Hepato Pancreatic Biliary Cancers 2026

This Research Topic aims to compile High-Quality Case Reports submitted to the Gastrointestinal Cancers: Hepato Pancreatic Biliary Cancers section, that provide meaningful clinical, biological, or translational insights.

The primary criterion for consideration is not rarity alone, but the extent to which the case advances understanding of disease mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment, or overall patient management. Reports supported by molecular, translational, or multi-omics investigations are particularly encouraged, as are cases that generate testable hypotheses and have the potential to inform future research and clinical practice.

Priority will be given to:
1. RARE cases with TYPICAL features that yield important clinical or biological insights;
2. Common cases with ATYPICAL features that have diagnostic, therapeutic, or biological significance;
3. Cases demonstrating a convincing response to novel treatments, including a single case involving off-label therapies.
4. Cases providing omics-based and mechanistic insights that generate testable hypotheses and have the potential to inform future research and clinical applications.

• Abstract
• Introduction, highlighting the uniqueness of the case and relevant literature
• Case description, including de-identified patient information, clinical findings, prior interventions and outcomes
• A figure or table outlining the timeline of care
• Diagnostic assessment, therapeutic intervention, follow-up, and outcomes, in accordance with the CARE guidelines
• Discussion, including strengths and limitations, relevant literature, and key takeaways
• Patient perspective

Please note that written informed consent from the patient or their legal representative is required for publication. In line with the scope of this section, submissions are particularly encouraged when supported by correlative clinical data, molecular or translational evidence, or advanced approaches such as multi-omics profiling. Manuscripts based solely on bioinformatics, computational analyses, or public database predictions without independent validation are not suitable for this section. Authors are advised to follow the submission guidelines when preparing their manuscripts.
