Reviews in Disease Management

Frontiers in Agronomy is delighted to present the ‘Reviews in’ series of Research Topics. ‘Reviews in’ is a series being launched across Frontiers in Agronomy’s sections which aims to publish high-quality review articles on key topics within the field. The goal of this series is to highlight recent advances across agronomic disciplines, whilst emphasising important directions and new possibilities for future inquiry. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion within the broader agronomy community and translate to best practice applications in research, industry, and policy settings.

The Disease Management section covers strategies and tools for monitoring and controlling pathogens across a wide range of crops, spanning biological, cultural, chemical, physical, and integrated approaches. As global agriculture confronts emerging and re-emerging diseases, fungicide resistance, and the need to reduce the environmental footprint of crop protection, the demand for rigorous, synthesised knowledge has never been greater. Reviews in Disease Management brings together high-quality scholarly review articles that map the current state of the science, identify critical knowledge gaps, and chart directions for the development of effective and sustainable disease management solutions.

The Reviews in Disease Management collection welcomes Review, Mini-Review, and Systematic Review articles on topics within the scope of the Disease Management section. Topics considered in scope include, but are not limited to:

• biological control of plant diseases

• cultural practices to control plant diseases

• disease epidemiology: monitoring, phenotyping, forecasting, modelling

• emerging and re-emerging diseases

• fungicides: use in integrated pest management programs, resistance, and innovative formulations

• host plant resistance to diseases

• innovative tools for identification and diagnosis

• integrated and system approaches to manage plant diseases

• legislation and regulation related to plant disease management

• physical methods to control plant diseases.
