Obstetrics and gynecology is being reshaped by rapid advances in digital health, machine learning, and AI-assisted research and writing. These tools promise faster diagnosis, sharper evidence synthesis, and broader access to specialist knowledge — but they also raise pressing questions about reliability, reproducibility, and scholarly integrity. The recent rise of AI-hallucinated references is a clear example: a citation’s value lies not only in whether it exists, but in whether the author has genuinely engaged with it. As these technologies move from the laboratory into routine clinical and academic practice, the field needs a considered account of where they add value and where they introduce risk.
This Research Topic brings together leaders and emerging voices in obstetrics and gynecology to examine how innovation, evidence, and the responsible use of AI and digital tools are changing the specialty — from bench to bedside. We aim to set out practical principles for adopting these tools responsibly, with a particular focus on evidence integrity, transparent reporting, and the safeguarding of clinical and scholarly standards.
We welcome Opinion, Perspective, Review, Original Research, and Editorial contributions addressing themes including, but not limited to:
o Responsible use of AI in research writing, citation, and peer review, including detection and prevention of hallucinated or unverified references. o Digital tools and machine learning in obstetric and gynecological diagnosis, imaging, and clinical decision-making. o Evidence integrity, reproducibility, and transparent reporting in the AI era. o Translation of digital and AI innovations from research settings into clinical practice. o Ethical, regulatory, and educational implications for clinicians, researchers, and trainees.
