Women in Psychiatry 2026: Perinatal Psychiatry

Frontiers in Psychiatry is proud to launch this year's Women in Psychiatry: Perinatal Psychiatry collection to showcasing recent research advances from women across the entire breadth of Perinatal Psychiatry - presenting advances in theory, experiment, and methodology.

This Research Topic is seeking submissions exploring antepartum and postpartum maternal mental illness, paternal mental illlness, psychopharmacological, psychological and psychosocial therapeutic strategies, co-morbid mental disorders, effects of social circumstances, resilience and positive adjustment in motherhood and evidence-based treatment strategies.

At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Science and gender equality are essential to ensure sustainable development. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers.

Please note: to be considered for this collection, the first or last author should be a researcher who identifies as a woman.
