The rapid growth of biomedical data in both volume and complexity creates new challenges in presenting data effectively and accurately. This includes exploring data to reveal hidden information and presenting analysis findings. New visualization methods are being developed to address new emerging problems or provide new insights into old data types. Innovations in visualization will revolutionize how we think about our data and it is extremely important for biomedical research.

This Research Topic will focus on the data visualization methods that address a wide variety of biomedical research areas, including special areas that need highly tailed approaches. The goals of this research topic are to present novel methods or software tools and their applications in biomedical data visualization and seek to improve biomedical data visualization practice to increase the ability of understanding data insights and to promote science communication. We welcome Original Research Articles, Reviews, Mini Reviews, Case Reports and Perspective articles.

Areas of focus include but are not limited to:
• Overview and perspective on biomedical data visualization
• Data visualization methods to address common challenges of biomedical research
• Data visualization methods for special research areas, including metagenomics, single-cell sequencing and three-dimensional genomics
• Software tools for biomedical data visualization including standalone software, programming libraries and web-tools

Keywords: Biomedical data, Multivariate data, Visualization, genomics, Software tools

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
