As a way of direct communication between the human brain and the external environment without relying on peripheral nerve and muscle tissue, brain-computer interface (BCI) has been applied in the field of rehabilitation. Most of the existing rehabilitation technologies based on BCIs use brain-driven commands to control the rehabilitation devices and control the movement of the affected limbs to implement the rehabilitation process. And BCIs based brain pattern recognition is now being coupled with therapy devices (exoskeleton, functional electrical stimulation, etc.) to provide feedback to patients for better therapeutic effect. Although BCIs are widely used in neurorehabilitation nowadays, there are still problems in BCI-based neurorehabilitation. The lack of effective central nervous system stimulation, brain injury condition assessment, and the rehabilitation process with BCIs hinder further development in this field. Therefore, promoting cutting-edge research and clinical application of BCI in rehabilitation through effective BCI-based neural stimulation, effective assessment of neural injury, and further development of rehabilitation protocols is of great importance.
