Histopathology is classically defined as “a branch of pathology concerned with the tissue changes characteristic of disease”. It is of crucial importance for the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of disease. Nowadays, it is complemented by molecular techniques which allow the detection of molecular “lesions” underlying the development of disease. This is important to develop targeted therapies for different types of cancers; a better understanding of the clinical phenotype and pathogenesis can contribute to the earlier detection and
efficient treatment.
In this Research Topic, we aim to collect studies on the recent advances in histopathology for the development of targeted therapies in different types of cancer. We welcome studies on cyto-histological correlations, immunohistochemistry, histology as tools for the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic opportunities in different cancers.
