In recent years, there has been a growing interest in creating robots that possess biological capabilities. Research has enabled robots to become increasingly involved in human society by focusing on producing robots that can mimic human attributes, including perceptual, cognitive, and motor abilities.
This Research Topic aims to collect research that focuses on using the human senses as a driving force for creating biologically oriented and socially able robots. We hope to uncover cutting-edge research that will facilitate the socialization of robots, allowing them to integrate almost seamlessly into application areas with human interaction, such as health care and educational domains.
This Research Topic welcomes research on but not limited to:
- Perception (visual, tactile, auditory, etc …)
- Fluid movement (flexible reactions, ability to carry objects, etc…)
- Human interactions and conversation (human-robot interaction,…)
- Biologically-motivated algorithms for robotic senses
- Neural networks for mimicking human sensory processing

- Learning (ability to flexibly adapt behavior to different contexts)
