Scientific advances over the past decades have untangled the complexity of RNAs and focused on a better understanding of their function. The discovery non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) made the scientific community rethink the dogma DNA-RNA-protein and led to the discovery of the unique functions of these single-strand nucleotide chains who do not encode for a protein. Recent advances suggest that ncRNA are major players in endocrine organs and endocrine-related disorders.
These ncRNA can have hormone-like activities and regulate hormone secretion. They have an important role in modulating receptors and hormone-related signaling network, mediating the function of hormones, growth factors and cytokines. More recently, ncRNAs have been studied as powerful markers for various endocrine diseases, including different reproductive disorders or pregnancy adverse outcomes.
In this article collection, we welcome Original Research, Reviews, Mini-Reviews, Opinion and Perspective articles on the role of nc RNA in the Reproductive system. In particular, we are interested in collecting manuscripts related to, but not limited to, the following themes:
- ncRNA role in reproductive system;
- ncRNA role in reproductive diseases;
- ncRNA as markers for reproductive disorders;
- ncRNA as therapies for reproductive disorders;
- effect of ncRNA on pregnancy outcome;
- differential expression of ncRNA in the reproductive system.
