Background
Antidepressants have long been used to increase the activity of neurotransmitters in the brain and help lessen the symptoms of depression and anxiety. While they are common and wildly used, they are not without consequences or side effects.
The goal of this Research Topic is to explore the different impacts that antidepressants have on different demographics. It will assess the different risks involved in antidepressant use and explore the use of cannabis and psychedelics as a method of treating depression and anxiety disorders.
We invite researchers to submit a range of articles including but not limited to original research articles, reviews, meta-analyses, opinions, perspectives, and case reports to provide new evidence on the following: - Side effects/consequences of antidepressants - Assessments of risks involved in taking antidepressants - Use of cannabis or psychedelics as antidepressant treatment
Keywords: Antidepressants, Cannabis, Psychedelics, Risk Assessment, Side Effects
Important note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
