The special issue concerns the discussion of the ethical and responsibility aspects of health workers engaged in the activities of assistance to minors concerning their reproductive health. The ethical problems connected with the autonomy of the minor, his ability to formulate informed choices, to understand the risks and the right to be assisted are part of the discussion. Also of interest are the problems related to the responsibility of operators in assisting minors who require interventions aimed at improving their reproductive health, both relating to drug therapies and invasive procedures.
Contributions must be aimed at clarifying the problematic aspects of ethical nature connected with the assistance to minors in the field of reproductive medicine, the ethical dilemmas that are raised by such practices and propose appropriate solutions that take into account fundamental ethical principles and the rights of minors. This also in relation to any intervention in the decisions of the parents. Contributions may also concern aspects connected with the legal regulation of interventions on the reproductive health of minors and the related responsibility of operators in applying these rules, both in the pharmacological and operational approach.
The papers may be of general analysis with the characteristics of reviews, of proposing solutions (position papers), of concrete application in original experiences on the topics, of case review and of legal and medico-legal analysis. The topics, indicated by way of example, are:
- general approach to reproductive health in minors;
- ethics in reproductive care for minors;
- competence of minors in autonomous choices; consent and information; free choice of minors;
- competence in autonomous risk assessment; medical-legal approach to reproductive health care in minors;
