The incidence of chronic diseases is increasing worldwide. Obstacles such as incomplete knowledge of the disease's natural history hinder the etiology and pathogenesis understanding of chronic diseases. Emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced bioengineering, Liquid biopsy, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) provide an unprecedented opportunity to accelerate chronic disease diagnosis and treatment development. The rapidly increasing amount of advanced technological approaches provides wide opportunities to address new research questions and to translate new knowledge into clinical practice. We expect that the next wave is seen in improving our understanding of chronic diseases (cardio-cerebrovascular diseases, hypertensive, oncology, diabetes, etc.) that change traditional diagnostic categories. These new disease classifications hopefully result in new, more tailored treatment and prediction options.
We welcome investigators to contribute with Original Research articles, Case reports, as well as Review or Opinion articles that seek to address how emerging technology can advance chronic disease diagnosis and treatment development. A particular interest will be given to papers exploring or discussing the application of the integration of AI, Liquid biopsy, and pharmacogenomics to advance chronic disease therapy development. Genomic Medicine research facilitates the use of genomic information in medicine, including treatment, diagnostics, and prevention. In-depth research will be encouraged, including functional experiments, structural biology, and bioinformatics, which can explain the pathogenesis of chronic diseases.
