Tissue engineering provides new hope for combining cells, scaffolds and biofactors (e.g., growth factors, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, peptides, amino acids, fatty acids, and phytochemicals) in modern medicine. The continuous development of different technologies, including 3D printing, microfluidics and gene editing tools have led to the generation of artificial cells/organs based on in vivo mimetic models. These advances offer promising approaches for drug analysis and delivery, disease investigation and toxicity pathways, and the construction of artificial models and even synthetic cell/organ chassis. Additionally, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Translational Medicine may provide new hope for the next generation of personalized medicine approaches.
The aim of this research topic is to showcase the state-of-art research in the field of tissue engineering, cell therapy, gene therapy, and drug therapy.
The present Research Topic will highlight the latest cutting-edge developments in the area of tissue engineering and provide a comprehensive overview of new approaches for drug analysis and delivery, including the integration of AI-assisted approaches in personalized medicine.
