About

Building on the success of New Trends in Type 2 Diabetes Diagnosis and Management in Primary Care, we are pleased to launch Volume II of this Research Topic.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) accounts for around 95% of all cases of diabetes and results from the body’s ineffective use of insulin. With the prevalence of T2DM rising, particularly in low and middle income countries, it is becoming increasingly important to have feasible and cost effective solutions to diagnosis and manage this disease.

Primary care plays a key role in the management of T2DM, with one study demonstrating that 90% of clinical care delivered to T2DM patients was delivered by primary care professionals. T2DM patients often have various co- and multimorbidity’s, so managing multiple medications, the multiple choices of medical devices available and the various lifestyle measures to consider can present a challenge to primary care professionals.

This Research Topic aims to give an overview of the latest trends relating to managing T2DM in a primary care setting and welcomes manuscripts relating to but not limited to:

• T2DM presentation in primary care

• Managing T2DM in primary care

• T2DM Multimorbidity in primary care

• Lifestyle measure recommendations in primary care
