Venous disease poses a significant health burden compromising the quality of life for 30-40% of the adult population. Among these individuals, 1% develop venous ulcers, which further deteriorate their quality of life and impact the well-being of their families and society at large. This condition places immense pressure on the healthcare system, as managing venous ulcers requires frequent, hands-on care from healthcare professionals and incurs considerable costs for treatment products.
The primary objective of this Research Topic is to address the underappreciated burden of venous disease on patients and the healthcare system. We seek to explore innovative strategies and interventions across the entire patient care continuum—from initial diagnosis to the prevention of recurrence—to improve patient outcomes and alleviate the challenges faced by healthcare providers. By fostering a comprehensive understanding and highlighting effective practices, we aim to enhance the quality of life for patients and reduce the societal and economic pressures associated with venous disease.
We invite scientifically significant contributions that cover various aspects of venous disease management. We welcome submissions addressing both pelvic and lower limb venous conditions, and high-quality papers on upper limb venous disease will also be considered.
We are seeking submissions that contribute to this important body of knowledge and provide novel insights and practical solutions to improve the lives of those affected by venous disease and support healthcare providers in delivering optimal care.
Join us in advancing the understanding and treatment of venous disease to improve patient and societal outcomes.
