About this Research Topic
Invertebrates have adapted to survive in highly diverse environments and their sensory and nervous systems have evolved accordingly. Studying the development and function of these systems and behavior elicited by various sensory signals, as well as its plasticity, has provided insight into both common features and divergence to optimize survival and reproduction. We will draw a picture on recent advances in these fields inspired by a conference in Versailles/France in May 2018.
We welcome submissions on all aspects of invertebrate neurobiology from sensory systems, their development, over information integration and modulation in the brain to locomotor and behavioral output. We encourage submissions on these themes concerning different phyla of invertebrates, model-and non-model organisms and studies from the molecular and cellular level up to cognitive questions.
