In recent times, there has been significant emphasis on the importance of STEM Education so that students are well prepared to meet the challenges of the modern day workforce. Research on STEM education has also moved upstream in the science education literature.
While a significant body of knowledge exists in the STEM education literature, what seems to be lacking are perspectives from researchers on how they view the future of STEM Education. A multi-faceted view of how the trajectory of STEM Education is likely to take shape in the future would be of interest. Practicing researchers would be in the best position to reflect on this from the lens of their experience. Hence, this Research Topic within Frontiers in Education will be different from conventional approaches in publishing special issues.
