Oxidation is one of the most important reactions in organic synthesis. Metal catalysts can activate peroxides, such as hydrogen peroxide or t-butyl hydroperoxide, for the oxidation of a large variety of substrates, and in some cases, high degrees of selectivity can be achieved. Several metal compounds or simple salts can be used as catalysts for the peroxidative oxygenation (i.e., with a peroxide) of organic molecules. For instance, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons to produce the corresponding alcohols and ketones, epoxides, aldehydes and, in some cases, other types of product, such as carboxylic acids. It is important to mention that dioxygen can be the main oxidizing and oxygenation agent, but the peroxide reagent can exhibit another role, such as the source of hydroxyl radical, which is an H-abstractor. Therefore, catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents have a wide range of application in the field of catalysis.

The search for selective and efficient catalysts towards catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents under sustainable conditions in a great challenge to researchers in the field of catalysis. The design of alternative and efficient routes under mild conditions and bypassing the use of toxic acid solvents is highly significant research in current times. Recent research shows that there is a tremendous growth in the field of catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents. The main objective of this Research Topic is to address a variety of reactions around catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents. A collection of the research advances  in this field will be an important part of this topic. 

Catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents is a widely developed research area in the field of catalysis. The main goal of the current Research Topic is to combine a variety of new and original research results on catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents in the field of catalysis. 

·  Catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents reactions under homogeneous catalysis condition (Oxidation of alkanes, alcohols, epoxidation reactions etc.)
·  Catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents reactions under heterogenous catalysis or catalysts onto supported materials 
·  Catalytic reactions under non-conventional methods (e.g., Microwave assisted solvent free conditions; reactions in Ionic liquid medium or super critical conditions etc.)
· Experimental results on kinetic or electrochemical studies to know more information about the role of catalysts (e.g. oxidation states of the metal ion during the course of catalytic reaction, regioselectivity etc.)
· Theoretical calculations to elucidate mechanisms of catalytic selective oxidation using peroxide/hydroperoxide reagents.
