The vision of proteomics is to enable the wide-scale sequencing of proteins in an attempt to understand and exploit the dynamic processes that govern cellular biology. However, the extreme complexity of proteomes complicates the analytical process, and requires advanced separation processes, instrumentation that enables precise detection, and the appropriate tools to evaluate data post-collection in order to succeed.
The development of new techniques and methodologies is therefore essential to our continued progress towards this goal. Tandem-MS, gel-, microfluidics-, electrochemistry- based techniques and Capillary Electrophoresis/Liquid Chromatography(CE/LC)-MS-Based Proteomics are just a few examples. Here, we aim to bring together a collection of new techniques and methodologies that will further our capabilities as a community.
We welcome the submission of Original Research and Review articles that discuss methodological advances in (but not limited to):
• LC-MS based mass spectrometry for proteomics
• Ion mobility-mass spectrometry for proteomics
• The integration of new analytical / separation techniques for proteomics
• Ion activation/fragmentation methods
• Data analysis and software development
• Structural proteomics methods
All research must put forward new advances in methodology. Purely descriptive applications of existing techniques will not be accepted to this collection.
