About this Research Topic
Optoelectronic devices enable the conversion between optics and electronics, leading to plenty of significant commercial applications, including display, lighting, solar energy harvesting, telecommunication, light detection, and other fields. High efficiency is a key issue for their commercial applications, while micro-nano structures have been proved to be efficient for improving the performance of optoelectronic devices. For instance, micro/nano patterns with periodic or random structures have been utilized to increase the light extraction of organic light-emitting devices. Micro/nano structures have also been employed in semiconductor lasers as resonator geometries to achieve optical feedback for laser action. Furthermore, LSP (localized surface plasmon) excited in metal nanoparticles or SPP (surface plasmon-polariton) propagating at the metal/organic interface can trap light into the thin absorber layer and increase the absorption in solar cells and optical detectors.
This Research Topic is intended to make the focal points on recent exciting findings in the field of micro-nano structured optoelectronic devices. All of the relevant but not limited research on light-emitting devices, solar cells, lasers, and optical detectors are welcomed to submit to this topic.
