Climate change due to global warming is expected to have a significant impact on coastal areas due to sea level rise, exacerbated by storm-surge, wind-wave and associated coastal processes associated with tropical cyclones, and seasonal storms. Understanding how the oceans will change in the future is important for assessing and adapting to the impacts of climate change on coastal, marine, and oceanic environments, as well as for solving engineering-related problems.
Daily changes in waves affect the coastal environment through mechanisms such as wave-induced longshore currents and beach morphology. Likewise, if extreme coastal hazards caused by storm surges and storm waves become more frequent and severe in the future, their impact should be taken into account when designing infrastructure (e.g., coastal embankments) that is designed for long-term use.
It is very important to make and develop assessments and establish adaptation strategies and policies to climate change. For this research theme, we invite manuscripts on the following topics:
1. Projections of coastal hazards and environment due to climate change
2. Impacts of climate change on coasts
3. Vulnerability of coasts to climate change
4. Coastal adaptation strategies and technologies and measures to adapt to climate change
We sincerely appreciate your contribution to this Research Topic.
