About this Research Topic
The plant endomembrane system relies on the highly organized organelles and cytoskeleton, which provide the functional compartments necessary for the exchange of proteins, lipids, and polysaccharides via transport intermediates. The Endomembrane system is well studied in animal cells for its importance in the medical field, such as nutrient uptake, cholesterol clearance from blood, and downregulation of many receptor-mediated signaling processes. Proliferating researches in plants also highlights the significance of endomembrane proteins in plant development and responses to biotic/abiotic stimuli.
The goal of this Research Topic is to present an overview of the fundamental discoveries in understanding the coordination of plant endomembrane system with developmental signals and environmental stimuli.
We welcome submissions of different types of manuscripts including original research papers, reviews, and methods, including but not limited to:
1.Coordination of different endomembrane trafficking pathways with developmental programs or biotic/abiotic stimuli.
2.Coordination of cytoskeleton dynamics with developmental programs or biotic /abiotic stimuli.
3.Manipulation of endomembrane proteins for environmental adaptation in agriculture applications
