As an important type of energy resource, efficient and cost-effective exploitation of petroleum reservoirs plays an important role in the security of the global energy supply. During the recovery process of petroleum reservoirs, fluid phase behaviors and transport in porous media are the two most important issues. The former can determine the fluid state and properties in reservoirs, while the latter controls fluid mobility. In recent years, with the continuous development of petroleum reservoirs, the topics of phase behavior and fluid transport have attracted great attention in the world, especially in such a time of the successful development of various unconventional petroleum resources.
During the recovery process of petroleum reservoirs, with the reduction of reservoir pressure and the injection of additives (e.g., N2, CO2, solvent and chemical additives, etc.), the original fluid phase state in the reservoir will evolve, and simultaneously, the fluid transportation characteristics also vary because of the continuous changes of reservoir conditions. On the other hand, because of the successful development of unconventional reservoirs, the fluid phase equilibrium calculation and fluid transport in micro-/nano- pores have become another hot topic in this area. Considering the recent advancements of phase behavior and fluid transport in petroleum reservoirs, Original Research articles, Review, and Perspective that focused on the two issues are welcomed to be submitted.
