Achalasia diagnosis, classification, and treatment have recently changed. New technology, such as high-resolution manometry, became available and changed parameters for diagnosis and classification of the disease, with a direct effect on prognosis and possible tailoring for treatment. Therapy also benefits from new technology such as the possibility of the peroral endoscopic myotomy. All these changes are not final and have been constantly revised. Good quality studies are still needed to scrutinize achalasia's modern diagnosis, classification, and treatment. This Research Topic aims to compile high-quality studies on modern diagnosis, classification, and treatment for achalasia.
We welcome submissions of all types of manuscripts (original studies, systematic reviews, narrative reviews, mini-reviews, case reports) with high quality and originality to fill gaps for achalasia diagnosis, classification, and treatment).
Experts from experienced centers in the field are welcome to submit their views on the topic in the sections "perspective", "hypothesis and theory", or "opinion".
