About this Research Topic
Through this research topic, we would like to bring attention to the new infection sources from arthropod vectors and thereby steer the research direction in the discovery of new pathogens from such sources. This will also play a vital role in the prevention and control of diseases. The discovery of such pathogens are driven through next generation sequencing (NGS), including VIROME and Metagenome, as well as other specific sequencing technologies. This information combined with the transmission evidence from infection can aid in the determination of "new infectious agents".
The current Research Topic welcome submissions of Original Research, Review, Mini Review, Hypothesis and Theory, Dispatches, Opinion and Perspective focusing on:
1) New infectious agents in mosquitoes
2) New infectious agents in ticks
3) New infectious agents in flies, fleas, midges and other blood-sucking vectors
Keywords: New infectious agents, Virome, Metagenome, vertebrate hosts, Arthropod Vectors
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
