About this Research Topic
The ability of T cells to migrate is intimately bound to their development and function. Intrathymic development, recognition of antigens in secondary lymphoid organs, as well as the mounting of specific responses in peripheral tissues are all key steps to T cell life cycle that rely on a finely tuned motility behavior, allowing both recirculation to distant organs and optimized strategies for antigen detection and precise tissue positioning.
The understanding of the control of T cell migration has emerged as a key to monitor and unravel T cell responses in numerous settings. Additionally, changes in T-cell migratory properties can be associated with disease, including inflammatory disorders (such as infections and autoimmune diseases) as well as T-cell neoplasia.
The field of T-cell migration has recently made remarkable progress thanks to new methodologies and tools to study cell migration events in vivo, as well as in three-dimensional substrates.
The aim of this Research Topic is to provide an integrated view on this complex subject, with a set of articles by experts in the field presenting updated knowledge.
