The zebrafish, Danio rerio, has emerged as an important model for vertebrate development as it relates to human health and disease. Work in this system has provided significant insights into the variety of signals that direct the cellular activities and tissue interactions necessary for proper assembly of organs and animal body plans. This Research Topic aims to highlight the latest experimental advances relating to the use of Zebrafish as a model organism in morphogenesis and patterning research, from embryonic development to organ morphogenesis and the conversion of prepatterns into mature structures.
We are interested in contributions covering all aspects of Zebrafish as a model organism and their applications in morphogenesis and patterning research. Review articles or opinions on methodologies or applications including the advantages and limitations of each, as well as recent advances in the field, are welcome.
This Research Topic welcomes:
• Reviews or mini-reviews highlighting recent advances in zebrafish research.
• Original research presenting new findings using zebrafish as a model for the study of morphogenesis and/or patterning.
• Method articles describing either new or existing methods that are significantly improved or adapted for specific purposes. These manuscripts may include primary (original) data.
• Reviews and mini-reviews of topical methods and protocols highlighting the important future directions of the field.
• Perspectives on methods and protocols relevant for zebrafish research.
