About this Research Topic
In addition, despite technological advances in the field, intraoperative infrared thermography has been an underestimated tool with few reports on its usefulness during intracranial tumor resection.
We aim to highlight recent advances in the field, whilst emphasizing important directions and new possibilities for future inquiries.
We anticipate coming papers will promote discussion to answer these questions:
1) Can these methods improve gross total resection and ultimately outcomes alone or in combination?
2) Are these technologies the current standard of care in gliomas and metastases?
We share this call for papers for the special issue "Current and emerging technologies for intraoperative brain and spinal cord tumor visualization" to collect full-length studies, reviews, and systematic reviews that address how such imaging and fluorescence methods have a role in the field.
