Vision is the most important sensory system for human beings to process external information. The complete transmission of visual information depends on the retina, optic nerve, and visual pathway (lateral geniculate body, optic radiation, and visual center). To date, Various eye diseases (glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, optic neuritis, hereditary optic neuropathy) cause vision loss. The imaging techniques for the diagnosis of blinding eye diseases are limited. Thus, Multimodal imaging techniques include optical coherence tomography (OCT), optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), which provide essential biological markers in the diagnosis of ophthalmic diseases. Moreover, multimodal imaging combined with artificial intelligence (AI) has been widely used in diagnosing and evaluating ophthalmic diseases.

In this Research Topic, we welcome research from different perspectives to discuss the application of multimodal imaging combined with artificial intelligence in eye diseases. More specifically, submissions may be related to (but not limited to) the following topics:

- The application of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) combined with artificial intelligence (AI) in eye disease
- The application of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) in eye disease
